I purchased an 18 gallon Water Heater and the installation was very easy. This WH came with all of the necessary fittings and power cord. We had Hot Water at the desired temperature within 1 hour and 30 minutes after the install. I installed this Water Heater in my 38 foot RV in the storage compartment because the Water Heater that came with the RV was too small.

The water heater arrived promptly. Well packaged without damage and missing no parts. Installation was straightforward. I was use to my old water heater making noises so when this new one was powered up I wasn't sure it was working because it was silent. Later I checked the hot water and it was very hot. Heater seems to recover fast and maintains hot water. I am real pleased with this purchase.

I installed this water heater on Wed, 4/24/2024. No hot water, so, I increased the heat setting to 135 degrees and still not even warm at all, I checked the voltage to the line side of the thermostat and had 120 volts, I then checked the load side of the thermostat where there was no power feeding through it to the heating element, It will need a replacement thermostat and today is Sat.4/27/2024.There is no help at the GE warranty center until 9:00 AM Eastern time. I will be expecting an extremely quick warranty response. cold showers are not cool but darn cold.,

I bought this to use as a temporary water heater while I was installing a new gas tankless heater. There™€™s just so much to do when switching from a traditional water heater to a tankless and I didn™€™t want to be without hot water for days on end. This Little GE electric water heater has allowed me to take my time installing the tankless heater. It has enough capacity for both my wife and I to take back-to-back showers. and if the tankless heater should ever fail or need service, I can use this little GE heater as a back up.

GE 18 gallon electric water heater a WINNER

I purchased the 18 gallon GE Electric Water heater thru Amazon. It's a quality heater and works with a standard 120 volt plug that's included. It was a temporary fix since my tankless water heater went out and it needed to be replaced. It has been over a month now...where's my plumber? I'm still using the small tank GE and it's delivering enough hot water to take a short 10 minute shower using an water economy showerhead. It was easy to connect in my garage by using two 6 foot stainless steel braided laundry hoses....remember...this is temporary so I thought. A couple of the features which make this purchase great was the low cost, good quality, and that it's a 1500 watt electric load. Most of the other small water heaters out there are 2000 watts which exceed the requirements of a standard electrical outlet. No more cold water or waiting for the plumber to call me about installing my new tankless....I wonder if or when he will call ? ? ?

Great Inexpensive 18 gallon Water Heater

Our tankless heater went out over a month ago and we connected this electric water heater up as a temporary fix in our garage until our new tankless is installed. It's a iow price, light weight, quality made, 18 gallon water heater. It provides plenty of hot water for a quick 10 minute shower using a low flow shower head. Installation only took a matter of minutes using a 6' standard stainless steel laundry hoses since it was a temporary fix. It comes with an 120 Volt AC cord. We used an Appliance rated 6' extension cord to plug it in since our outlet wasn't quite close enough. Important note: this water heater is rated at 1500 watts. I noticed that some of the other brands on the market were rated at 2000 watts which exceed plug-in requirements. We have not experienced any electrical breaker trips since 1500 watts is just right !

Packaged well and all required parts included. During the installation I noticed the Hot water port is not in alignment with the cold water port. Like the drawings depicted. I contacted customer support and opened case number. GE support advised me to proceed with install. This unit will be elevated and not easily accessible. I am proceeding.

This tank checks the boxes, line in, line out, t&p port, drain spigot. I wish the wiring area was a little larger. The drain spigot seems like a good upgrade given the one being replaced didn't have a drain. The price of the tank was better than competition and tank life expectancy also better than competition.

Why would the manufacturer put the water temperature control on the back ? Every hot water heater we™€™ve owned through many years is in a closet or cabinet of some sort. We had trouble getting hot water and the company told us to put it in minimum, then maximum and then back to preset. That worked but trying to adjust in with mirrors and flashlights was very difficult. We didn™€™t want to have to drain the water to take it out. We live in the desert and water is precious. Our old water heater which was also a GE, that control was in the front. Please from now on, put it on the front.

Not at all a fan of side-mount water inlet/outlets. These should always be mounted on top. If you're going to have side-mounts, then you should include 90 degree elbows. Had to get those separately, and then plumb to my overhead water lines. Also not a fan of the plastic drain valve. That should be metal. Does include a TPR valve, which is good, but I also had to buy a special top mount drain line separately. Parts are well-labelled, and the instructions are fairly straightforward. Size is nice for one bathroom. We're not half-hour shower folks. It'll give you a hot 10 minute shower. That's all I need. Replaced a 40 gallon propane water heater (Rheem) that lasted exactly 8 years, and was NOT cheap. Planned obsolescence. This is much less expensive to operate. Might get another for the other bathroom. Much cheaper than buying a large water heater, and if one goes bad, you still have the other functioning til you get a replacement.

Had to have the thermostat replaced under warranty...didn't correct the issue. New unit was sent as a replacement but same issue persists. Hot water heater does not heat correctly. You have to manually bump the temp up all the way, then all the way down...then to the desired temp setting. Problem is both units fail to heat correctly. Bad batch maybe, but recent reviews echo our situation (slow initial heatup, slow recovery time etc) but maybe those units are part of this hopeful bad batch (?). Customer service has been outstanding, extremely helpful and very understanding during this...cant thank them enough

well it is well made 18 gallon unit, had it shipped thru amz. well packed and protected. installed it myself, easy, but when assembly day arrived. i was missing stems and valve, good thing i did not throw away packing. found these items stuffed in bottom of Styrofoam, hooked up works great no problems. best yet is 1 year labor and 8 year on parts, clear concise instructions on assy and Maintenace.

We were having a problem with the dishwasher and kitchen sink taking too long (2 gallons wasted) before we had any hot water. This also caused the dishwasher to work poorly as the pods didn't get dissolved by cool water. We put this water heater under the sink, and we now have instant hot water.
